Help Us Help and Code.X Announce New Youth Program “Code for Ukraine”
January 31, 2024— In an impactful collaboration aimed at creating positive change amidst the ongoing challenges in Ukraine, Help Us Help is excited to announce its partnership with Code.X for the launch of "Code for Ukraine." This transformative program, scheduled to commence on July 5, 2024, represents a 12-month adaptation of Code.X's renowned 24-month youth entrepreneurship initiative, specially tailored for high school students.
Co-hosted in Western Ukraine, this collaborative effort with Code.X underscores Help Us Help's commitment to supporting humanitarian projects in Ukraine. "Code for Ukraine" is strategically designed to deliver internationally instructed computer science and human-centered design education to youth affected by the war, addressing the educational and economic disparities caused by the Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine.
Witnessing the profound impact of the war on Ukraine's youth, many of whom face the trauma of conflict and its aftermath, Help Us Help recognizes the urgent need to provide these individuals with life-changing technical education and personal skills development. By offering vital skills in technology and design, the program aims to empower Ukrainian youth to thrive in the digital age, unlocking future career opportunities and fostering them as agents of positive change within their communities.
Applications for the Code for Ukraine 2024-2025 cohort are open to 10th-grade students (ages 15-16). The comprehensive 12-month program includes a 14-day summer camp in 2024, a winter camp in 2025, and a final 14-day summer camp in 2025. Students will also engage in twice-monthly extracurricular classes between camps to reinforce their acquired skills.
STUDENTS: Prospective student applicants entering 11th grade in Fall 2024, who can commit to the program's duration in Western Ukraine, are encouraged to stay tuned for application updates on our website and social media channels: Facebook and Instagram
TEACHING ASSISTANTS: Help Us Help is also extending opportunities for local Ukrainian university students to apply as Teaching Assistants for the Code for Ukraine 2024 program. Follow application updates at helpushelp.charity and codedotx.org/instructor-experience.
INSTRUCTORS: We are excited to invite passionate individuals in Canada and the United States, pursuing higher education or employed in fields such as Computer Science, Design, or related disciplines, to join us as volunteer instructors.
