Mental Health Hub Expansion

The war has had a significant impact on everyone, both physically and mentally. As a result, Help Us Help has committed to an initial 3 month expansion of our Mental Health Hub initiative to aid the victims of the war.

A group of psychologists will be working at various relocation centres across Ukraine to provide mental health support to displaced children and families. The psychologists will continue to evaluate the evolving needs and provide Help Us Help with recommendations to adapt and/or expand our programming.

Updates

During the initial three months of the project, psychologists conducted:

  • 911 hours of group classes

  • 407 hours of individual consultations

  • 62 hours of consultations with participants of the Scholars Program.

In addition, to improve the skills of psychologists and volunteers working in the field, the following was conducted:

  • 5 hours of training webinars for volunteers conducting sports workshops for children;

  • 8 hours of training for directors working with evacuated children.

A total of 468 individuals are receiving continuous support from this project, the majority of which are internally displaced persons (IDPs) from relocation centres across Ukraine.

The Mental Health Hub began in 2021 in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The purpose of this initiative was to provide Help Us Help Scholars and alumni with mental health support throughout the pandemic. The program was delivered through Help Us Help's agency in Ukraine: Help Us Help UA, and two accredited psychologists.
